Nepal, Darjeeling & Sikkim with Yumthang - 13 Days & 12 Nights Tour

Introduction:

There is nowhere quite a place like Darjeeling "Queen of hills" which nature has chosen with care and blessed it with beauty and lush greenery of the tea garden. It is far from the maddening crowds of the metros.

There is no finer place than Darjeeling to steep your self in the grandeur and beauty of the towering snow-capped mountains. It’s a fascinating place where you can see Buddhist monasteries, visit a tea plantation and see how the tea is processed, spend days for bargains in colorful markets and handicraft shops or go trekking to high altitude spots near the border with Sikkim.

There is lovely verdure every where- fir and pines. The views over tibet the mountains to the snowy peaks of the Kanchenjunga and down to the swollen rivers in the valley bottom are magnificent.

Darjeeling has been very popular hill station, since the British established it as an R & R Center for their troops in the mid eighteen hundreds.

Itinerary

DAY 1- ARRIVAL – KATHMANDU

On arrival in Kathmandu we will transfer directly to our hotel.
Kathmandu Valley is situated at a height of 1,350metres (4,423 feet) above sea level. Visiting Kathmandu is like stepping into a time warp with its narrow lanes and by lanes, carved wooden balconies unchanged for centuries and town squares packed with an astonishing number of temples, monuments, markets and people, always people.
After check-in we will be resting for sometime.
A brief program details will be provided to you all followed by the traditional Nepali style dinner.

DAY 02-Kathmandu Sightseeing

After Breakfast we will set out for sightseeing tour of Swayambhunath & Patan Durbar Square.
Swayambhunath, the Buddhist temple situated on the top of a hill west of the city, is one of the most popular and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal. Geologists believe that the Kathmandu Valley was once a lake and legends relate that the hill on which Swayambhunath stands was an island in that lake.
Patan is 15 minutes drive from Kathmandu. Lalitpur, the city of beauty is separated from Kathmandu only by the Bagmati River and is the second largest town in the valley. Lalitpur is fragmented from other cities due to its substantive architectural ancient masterpieces. Patan’s central Durbar Square is absolutely packed with temples: it’s an architectural center point with a far greater concentration of temples per sq. meter than in Kathamandu or Bhaktapur.

After Lunch depart for sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath & Boudhanath
Pashupatinath, the most important Hindu temple in Nepal. It’s one of the most important Shiva Temples on the subcontinent and draws numerous devotees from all over India each year. Pashupatinath is considered to have a special concern for the Kingdom of Nepal.
Boudhanath, this is the largest stupa in Nepal and one of the largest in the world. It is a religious center for Nepal’s considerable population of Tibetans and there are a number of thriving monasteries around the stupa which have their own self importance.
Transfer to Hotel.
Free time to relax.
Dinner & Overnight Hotel.

DAY 03-Nepal- Darjeeling

Arrive at Bagdogra Airport/ NJP Railway Station. Transfer to Darjeeling, which will take four or four and half hours.
Evening free for leisure.
Overnight at hotel.

DAY 04- Darjeeling sightseeing

Local Sightseeing for Himalayan Geological Park (Where you can see Snow Leopard, Himalayan Black Beer, Red Panda and Himalayan birds), Mountaineering Institute, Rope way (first passenger rope way system in India and perhaps the longest in Asia, which take approximately 45 minutes.) Tenzing and Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee self help center, Tea Estate and Libong Race Course.

After short break for lunch visit to the Peace Pagoda (Japanese temple stating different stages of Buddha's life), Lal Kothi, Awa Art Gallery (Depicting fine arts and embroidery works) and National History Museum.

Overnight at hotel.

DAY 05-Darjeeling Sightseeing

Departure by 3 O'clock in the morning to see the sun rise at the point Tiger Hill (give the magnificent view of the sunrise over Kanchenjunga and great eastern Himalayas.) Even the world highest peak Mount Everest is visible from here. Visit Ghoom monastery (one of the oldest monastery in India) and Batasia Loop.

After lunch, evening free for leisure and shopping for souvenirs or take an optional excursion tour of the Rock garden.

DAY 06- Gangtok

Departure for Gangtok (app. 5 hr. journey). Check-in at hotel at Gangtok
Evening free for leisure.
Overnight at hotel.

Day 05 Gangtok Sightseeing

Leave the hotel for full day sightseeing for Ganesh Tok(temple of god Ganesh), HanumanTok (temple of god Hanuman) and Tashi view point. After lunch visit for Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms, Orchid century, Chorten (Stupa), Research Institute of Tibetology, Botanical Garden and Rumtek Monastery.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 Gangtok Sightseeing

Visit to 'Tsangu Lake (about 35 km. from Gangtok, a natural lake of Sikkim bordered by legends and peaks which flowers during the spring, the lake is situated at a height of 12,400 ft. on the old trade road between India and Tibet. Rides on Yaks are offered at the lake side.

Overnight at hotel.

Day 08 Lachung Sightseeing

After breakfast, Excursion for Lachung to Yumthang- Nature walks. Which is on the same height of Kanchenjunga peak in a parallel way? Spend 2 to 3 hr there. This will be an excellent opportunity to see over 400 varieties of rhododendrons which have placed Sikkim on the botanical map of the world. Breathe the pure serene air that wafts down from the snowy peaks surrounding the valley and feel one with nature. Back to Lachung (Total journey is 54 km.).

DAY 9-

Lachung to Gangtok. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 10

Departure for Silliguri by afternoon.
Overnight at hotel at Silliguri.

DAY 11

Departure for Delhi and Departure for Kathmandu.
Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

DAY 12

Rest Day at Kathmandu. Optional Mountain Flight at morning.
Shopping and Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 13

Final departure
